Exchange Reception with SEYJAA
2025/5/19
On May 16, 2025, the Exchange Reception with SEYJAA was held at the Ambassador's Residence. SEYJAA is a JICA alumni association composed of former Seychellois participants in the JICA training programme.
The Association is currently working toward establishing a new Association that will include individuals beyond its existing membership, aiming to further promote relations between Japan and Seychelles. The Embassy organised the reception in support of this initiative.
In his remarks at the Reception, Ambassador Sakuta mentioned that over 400 Seychellois have participated in the JICA training programme in the past and that he is pleased to see Seychellois participants return home with valuable knowledge and skills learned in Japan, and contribute actively to the country in various sectors.
Ambassador Sakuta further noted that the importance of the Japan-Seychelles relationship has been growing particularly since the posting of the first resident Ambassador to Seychelles last year, and in anticipation of the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Japan and Seychelles in 2026. In this respect, he welcomed the SEYJAA's efforts to establish a new Association to strengthen the bilateral ties and said that the Embassy is keen to offer its support wherever possible.
