Meeting for the 100th Anniversary of Japanese Photographer Shinko Ohashi’s Passing

On March 5, 2025, Ambassador Sakuta had a meeting with the Seychelles National Museum of History and the Seychelles National Institute for Culture, Heritage and the Arts to discuss events to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the passing of Japanese photographer Mr Shinko Ohashi or Samuel Shingow Ohashi.
Mr Ohashi is said to have lived in Seychelles over 120 years ago and to have engaged in exchanges between Japan and Seychelles through his postcards capturing the landscapes of Seychelles. May 23 in 2025 will mark the 100th anniversary of his passing.
The Embassy is committed to continue working together with Seychelles to commemorate his legacy on this occasion.
