Launching Ceremony of Deaf Week 2026

On September 26, 2026, Ambassador Sakuta attended the launching ceremony of Deaf Week 2026, organized by the Association for People with Hearing Impairment (APHI).
The Deaf Centre in Mont Fleuri was opened in 2022 through the renovation of a facility under the Japanese government’s grassroots assistance project.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Sakuta took part in presenting awards to the “Deaf of the Year 2026” honoree to convey his congratulations.
After the ceremony, Ambassador Sakuta had the opportunity to visit the Deaf Centre, where he was warmly welcomed by Mrs. Anita Gardner, Chairperson of the Association for People with Hearing Impairment (APHI), as well as by students and teachers.
