Courtesy Call on Ambassador Sakuta by MEXT Scholarship Student (Mr Jonathan Pool)

On 5 September 2025, Ambassador Sakuta received a courtesy call from Mr Jonathan Pool, who was granted a scholarship under the MEXT Scholarship Programme 2025, prior to his departure for Japan.
 
Holding a Master’s degree in International and Administrative Policy and serving in a diplomatic career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Seychelles, Mr Pool will pursue studies as a research student at the Graduate School of Law, the Law and International Relations at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo. His research will focus on the policy implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on Ocean Governance in Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
 
Ambassador Sakuta expressed sincere appreciation for his contributions to Japan-Seychelles bilateral relations through his work at the Department of Foreign Affairs over the years and extended best wishes for his academic success in Japan.
